Grand Lido Braco
June 13-16
Paul and Christina
This was our first visit to Jamaica, and to Grand Lido Braco. Needless to say –we loved it!
June 13th
Arrived on Air Jamaica from Philadelphia around 10:30 a.m.
Smooth transfer to resort. Great driver named Christopher-told stories, answered questions, etc. Pretty good driver given the territory!!
Made a pit stop and arrived around noon. Checked in immediately to block 8 –beautiful garden view room with a HUGE king bed!! Robes and slippers-nice balcony.
Went immediately to A/N pool-dropped our drawers and went swimming. Great fun!! We were just in time for the buffet which was great!! Tried jerk chicken for the first time-OUCH! Very hot, but addicting!! More swimming, more drinks some pool volleyball. Then…too much drink…too much swimming…too much pool volleyball-time for a nap!! We left for the airport at 4:00 a.m. so we were a little sleepy!
Woken up by room service delivering a bottle of champagne in celebration of our 10th anniversary along with a white chocolate sculpture of a piano with the Grand Lido logo. We were scheduled to renew our vows on Saturday night. We ordered some room service-lamb chops and nachos! Fabulous
Ate at La Pasta-ordered something way too spicy-waitress noticed my expression, and immediately insisted that I order something else. What service!
Turned in early. Slept like a baby!
June 14th
Arose very early, forgot about time change. I was hungry, so we called room service to see if breakfast could "soon come" and within 15 minutes it was there. 1 hour ahead of schedule! Ate on the balcony-noticed a few teeny tiny ants crawling around and thought-This is what people complain about???? Ridiculous!
Went over to A/N pool again. Ate,drank, played, ate drank played etc. We met some fantastic people! It was great just to veg there in my chair and read. We had a few raindrops every day but it really wasn’t a big deal. Gave us an opportunity to nap!
More room service-more La Pasta. Street party was a blast! Food was served inside Victoria Market due to "small trop" –i.e rain. Great food, great fun. A lot of dancing
June 15th
Our renewal day has arrived! Room service for breakfast-then a bigger breakfast at Victoria. Awesome french toast and omelets.
Time for a little swimming –had rain again.
Had hair done in salon. Beautiful job!!
Went back to the room to wait for Georgette to arrive. Groom was very nervous-adorable!!
Georgette arrived with wedding flowers and boutenairre. We went to our gorgeous beach location and renewed or vows in our barefeet in the sand! Great photographer and he took a whole roll with our camera!! Just a note-take $$ to tip photographer and minister.
Had reception in the gazebo with champagne, Caribbean wedding cake and Bob Marley music! I cannot rave enough about the fantastic job done by everyone!!
Ate at Piacere. Awesome atmosphere-fabulous desserts!! Went for an evening swim.

Last day
L We scheduled a couples massage for outside, but due to the rain we had to have it indoors. It was still very good, but I was a little disappointed. Certainly wasn’t their fault though.By this time I was wondering why everytime I ordered hot tea with lemon, I was given lime??? Asked Tyrone-no lemons in Jamaica!! He said they are very expensive and rare. So if you like lemon-take along those little lemon juice packets.
We ate swam and drank and savored our last moments. Had dinner at La Pasta –pizza and salad bar are fantastic!!
June 17th
Spent a little more time this morning at the A/N pool and then went back to pack and get ready. We put out bags out at 12:00 p.m., checked out and then relaxed and ate lunch until our 2:00 p.m. departure.
Airport was packed and confusing with a lot of lines and no real direction.
Air Jamaica switched our seat assignments at the gate as we were boarding from 8AB to 34AB,and then ran out of Red Stripe!!! UGH. Very bumpy flight home. Really the only negative.
Some side notes-
I was appalled at the way some guests treated the staff. I am not sure where the feeling of superiority comes from, but I couldn’t believe the way some people behaved. They are Jamaican, not deaf or stupid. The Jamaican people were gracious as always, but I wondered what would happen if they spoke to a waiter or waitress in that condescending manner in the States?? Better check your food before you take a bite! I know what I would do…..
We took Hershey kisses for the staff. They were very appreciative.
The resort was beautiful, and the staff was always making improvements. Go with a positive attitude and remember to overlook the things that you would overlook here at home.
We will definitely be returning
