Ya-Hooligan Trip Early May 2003

Ahna and Andy

Fall 2002

I had been researching Jamaican all-inclusive resorts for the past year planning for our 15th anniversary. Requirements were adult only, upscale (our Hawaii trip the year previous spoiled us), and sans-lifestyle. After reading David and Deanna’s trip report off Denny-P’s site Braco bubbled up to the top of the list. And with the rates he offered we were set to join the Ya-Hooligan’s for their 2003 trip.

Late April 2003

Travel

We left from Chicago on JamAir’s direct flight to MoBay. It was a fun flight with no complications all the way to Braco. If you haven’t taken this journey the tips from other trip reports can improve the experience. We enjoyed the beer break and the countryside. Into Braco we enjoyed all the courteous treatment we had read about.

Reception to room

We ended up killing a couple of hours (we arrived around 11:30am) waiting for our room. This was fine by us; it gave us a chance to tour the resort. However next year I’m heading for the pool to get some Jamaican hospitality and chops from Myrl.

Room ready and we are truly settled into paradise. We were very pleased with the condition, furnishings, and view of the room. Rest, eat, and out to try a/n sunbathing at the beach.

A/N First

Our first time a/n, Ahna was anticipating a long warm up. Until you’ve soaked in that Jamaican sun, in the way God intended, you just can’t know how relaxing it is. We were very happy and looking forward to a long holiday, just relaxing. The second stage is moving to the pool, although no one would have cared if we spent the entire time on the beach. We spent the first couple of days at the far end of the pool and worked our way toward the friendliest group of folks I’ve ever met on vacation. Once again no one would have said an unkind word if we hadn’t joined in. By day 3 we were hooked and spent almost four solid days in the buff.

Ya-Hooligans

Thanks to this kind and fun group of folks who welcomed us in at our pace. This was a great group for us to be with. They made each night activity fun to join into. We enjoyed getting to know many of them and are looking forward to hanging with them again in 2004.

Braco

The resort and staff were all that the highest of compliments said they were. The food was very good and the service was tasteful and warm. We truly felt that each of the staff was genuinely friendly.

I didn’t feel like writing a day-by-day report. But, I wanted to present our feelings and affection for the most romantic vacation we have had to date.
