Grand Lido Braco Trip Report

June 2004
We were really looking forward to our trip to Braco. We stayed at Negril last year and you can read the trip report on that experience. We loved Braco!!! Can’t wait to go back.
Our day of travel was an adventure…needless to say, our 12:45pm check in time turned into an 11pm check in time. Yikes! What a long day….
That was on Friday. Saturday morning we woke up and said to each other…"let the vacation begin!" From there on, it was nothing but paradise!
Some quick comparisons between Negril & Braco:
We stayed on the au natural side of both. The beach/ocean was better at Negril, since the sand was softer, Braco was a little coarse. The atmosphere was great at both places. The Braco pool/hot tub was like 50 times larger than Negril's. We liked the staff better at Braco, much friendlier. We think the food was a little better at Braco.
Our room, 3007 was awesome! You could walk right out to the beach and everything worked! Ewan checked us in that late night and showed us the room. He was very friendly and informative. He restocked the fridge and got us our favorite bottle of wine.
The other staff members that helped make our trip the best were; Sheryl, who booked us our massage and dinner reservations ahead of time, Merl and Wayne for filling our large jugs with outstanding drinks at the pool bar, Harris for making our last dinner at the Victorian a lovely experience, and finally Audrey, the sweet, hard working, gracious, loveable lady who checked up on us daily!
We also met some great guests too! Kari and Barry, Cindy and Clif (aka RedDog), Bob and Christy, Jim and Susan, and Mike and Lois. Thanks for the good times and for making our trip just that much more special!
The food at La Pasta and the French restaurant was excellent! The oriental wings for room service were the trick for late night hunger pains. Make sure you order two though, remember, everything is smaller there in portion size.
We took a day trip to Dunn’s River Falls. It was great, we had a blast. Bring water shoes, you’ll need them. Also, watch out for the rocks, Aaron slipped and has a nasty scrape that will be healing over the next few weeks on his leg. We ordered the video they offered for $30, and it was worth it. Just make sure you wave and say "ya mon" as much as possible so you get on the video. Also, since you’re off the resort grounds…tipping is asked for.
We dropped off some school supplies for the Braco wish list. Anything helps, no matter how much or how little you’re able to bring. They will be very grateful for it.
Pay attention to the surf. The wind was up most of our trip and if it’s too bad, the oceans are too rocky to snorkel or scuba dive.
We recommend the outdoor couples massage. It was the best. This was one of many gifts to each other for our one year anniversary.
A note about tipping: Remember, you are at an "all-inclusive" resort, so you don’t have to nor are expected to tip. It’s all included in the price you pay up front. However, we noticed occasional discrete tipping here and there which made us feel uneasy because we didn’t tip.
All in all, we don’t have any complaints, only compliments. We look forward to visiting Braco again in the very near future!
